Mission and Vision
Lifewater International is a Christian development organization that believes all people should have access to safe water, effective sanitation, and improved health. Today, 12 percent of our world's population lacks access to safe water and 37 percent lacks the security and dignity of a simple latrine.
Lifewater believes that the solutions to the global water and sanitation crisis emerge locally. By training in-country partners who in turn train local communities, Lifewater shares the knowledge, skills, and inspiration people need to take responsibility for their water sources and make long-term improvements to community health.
Background
Lifewater's Vision: Our vision is a world where every person has access to safe water, improved health and the knowledge of Jesus’ love.
Lifewater's Mission: Lifewater partners with the poor to bring safe water and health in Jesus' name.
Lifewater equips in-country partner organizations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America in shallow well drilling, hand pump repair, biosand filtration, sanitation promotion, latrine design and construction, community health through hygiene, and WASH in Schools. In-country partners use these skills to empower communities to meet their basic water and sanitation needs and gain confidence in their own ability to promote the health and well-being of their people.
A more detailed description of our training programs can be found at www.lifewater.org.
Project History Details
Lifewater International has worked in over 40 countries around the world over the last 35 years. During this time, Lifewater and our partners have provided 3,300 water systems (boreholes and repaired hand pumps), which have provided safe water to 1.4 million people.
There are several factors that help us determine where we direct our efforts, including the extent of the regional need, the capacity of our in-country partner organizations, and Lifewater’s own capacity to manage multiple partnerships. As all of these factors change over time, so does the list of countries in which we are currently working. In the past, Lifewater has worked in:
