Celebrating Our Grassroots Heroes

As we head into summer, let's celebrate an extremely important aspect of our organization...our grassroots supporters!

Three basic groups make up our fan base: activists, athletes, and groups/organizations. We are discovering that people all over the country, of all ages and with a variety of interests, want to support our cause. Here is just a sample we want to applaud this month:

:: Toni from South Carolina bought the Blue Planet Run book and donated it to the local library.

:: Recent grads, Elle and Taylor, had never organized a race before, but hosted a 5K anyway and raised $1,200 - in their words, "the coolest thing" they had ever done! They plan to pass their work onto next year's seniors.

:: Girls on the Run held a bake sale at their run in our honor.

:: Robert Farrell High School's math students (who are incarcerated) donated funds "to give other people a second chance at life."

:: Kristen designed her own 6K run as part of her master's thesis and is now helping us develop a kit so others can do it too!

:: Melissa is a full time sports physical therapist and provides input into our program development for athletes.

:: Renee is a high school student in San Francisco. She is taking the summer to develop an all-school action plan to adopt Blue Planet Network next year.

What we know is every effort matters, no matter how small - it's never insignificant. If you have a story, please tell us about it! If you have an idea, we can help! If you know an activist, an athlete or a group organizer, let them know about us!

As we grow our grassroots program, we hope you will help us find new and interesting ways to help provide safe drinking water to those who struggle every day.
