Rudi Dundas

Rudi Dundas is a photographer and artist focusing on issues of environmental and social change. She has worked internationally around the globe. Recent projects have included shooting wild tulips in the Tien Shan Mountains on horseback for Michael Pollan’s film, THE BOTANY OF DESIRE, and Coffee Farmers in Western Rwanda and Ethiopia for Peet’s Coffee and Technoserve of East Africa.

Chris Majors

Chris Majors is a photographer based in the Bay area. Always willing to travel, Chris grew up in South Carolina, but now lives in Oakland, CA. He attended the San Francisco Art Institue, SFAI, where he studied art photography.

A year ago, Rudi met Lisa Nash of Blue Planet Network who made her aware of the crisis in the world’s drinking water. Lisa introduced Rudi and her colleague, Chris Majors, in their joint project, Drop by Drop Photo, to Meera Hira-Smith of Project Well. Meera is working on the very serious issue of arsenic in the groundwater aquifers of West Bengal. Over 13 million people in West Bengal alone are drinking water tainted with arsenic at poisonous levels. Rudi and Chris decided that they must do something to help. So with the aid of Blue Planet Network and Project Well and its Indian counterpart, Aqua Welfare Society, they flew to West Bengal to spend two weeks in November of 2010 filming and photographing nearly 40 communities in order to help publicize the work being done there. Rudi and Chris have returned with thousands of images and hours of video and sound to find that the project has just begun! The important work is to help organizations publicize their work – making booklets, videos, presentations, blogs, etc. so that the stories reach a broader public. The most important discovery: EDUCATION is the key to bringing safe drinking water to more people… starting with young children in the schools and reaching out around the world through the internet, film and media. Every picture tells a story and the stories tell our world.
