At the first exchange of the day in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, Anne Hansen, President of the Swarthmore Rotary Club, and her husband Hogie greeted the runners and presented them with a donation.

Laura had one of her greatest runs today - she loved Philadelphia. It was her first big city run and she loved the beautiful old buildings. She ran into a beautiful exchange point by historic Independence Hall in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. Dot became a U.S. Citizen in this city at the age of 17 so she appropriately was on stage to welcome Laura and then run out of the exchange.

The newylweds Taeko and Jason ran 20 miles together, from Haddonfield to Winslow Township, NJ. Bodhi and Sunil traded Indian food for chiropractic adjustments; Bodhi, the chiropractor from Baltimore who began volunteering with the Run, was again with the team all day.

At the beginning of Sean's run in Linwood, some people enjoying Labor Day were interested by the Run and came out to support an otherwise quiet exchange. During Sean's run today he reached the coast; he is the first runner to return to the Atlantic Ocean. As he finished and handed off to Brynn to run a portion of the Atlantic City Boardwalk, the sky caught fire with fireworks launched in the night over the ocean.

After a peaceful run, Lansing stopped into the Lower Bank Tavern as it was closing up around 3 A.M. The owner of the bar, Bill, became very interested in the Run and the cause, opened up the bathrooms, gave everyone (not running) beers or soda, hung out for a bit - then went home to explore the BPR website. Realizing the 4:30 A.M. exchange was close to his house, he got his girlfriend, Leslie, to go with him to meet the runners. On the way, they stopped at a nearby Wawa Food Market and told the employees where they were going. The employees got so excited that they donated an entire case of bottled water to the team! Way to go late night New Jersey!
