The BPR Youth Board pulled out all the stops in Denver, including a free pancake breakfast for all in honor of the Run coming to town. Will Dobbie ran his 10 miles towards Denver in 55 minutes and, perhaps feeling he earned it, was a contestant in a pancake eating contest! All day different members of the Runners Edge Running Club joined the runners – their support was very much appreciated. Shiri had great conversations with guest Danielle, Mary enjoyed her guest Jim, and David was joined by 5 runners, one of whom was the anchorman for the Channel 5 news.
The Run out of Denver marked the departure from the Rockies, descending into prairie-like terrain in hot temperatures. Melissa had a wonderful runner with her for a few kilometers. Victor's guest runners switched every mile, providing him with a great work-out, and, more importantly, a great opportunity to get to know two individuals instead of one! Team Orange ran into a thunderstorm with flashes of heat lightning way off to the left after the rain subsided. They were joined again by Denver locale runners, each running one leg with BPR runners. Each ran a steady pace and provided the runners with welcome chat and later a pizza slice after the run. Brynn and Sunil reported seeing much roadkill: a live skunk, and a rabbit or two scurrying hurriedly across the road.
