Most of us just turn on the tap and receive water…anywhere, anytime.

Not true for nearly 1 billion people on the planet! Share your knowledge or perspective and help people all over the world.

More people die from waterborne diseases than from AIDS, cancer, and war COMBINED!

Help us educate others. Learn more and share your perspective with others.

CREATE A BLOG

Try these places to start: recent blog posts

FIND EXISTING BLOGS

1. Create a basic fact sheet that appeals to your target audience.

2. Go to www.goodsearch.com, a yahoo-based web search engine that gives Blue Planet Run a penny every time you do a search.

  • Enter "Blue Planet Run Foundation" into the charity text box.
  • Drag it to your toolbar or bookmark it to use every time (the box should retain our cause).
  • Enter different key words to identify websites that cater to your audience. Visit each site to determine if it is the right fit for you.

3. Copy & Save the URLs in a spreadsheet for future use.

4. Adding Content: You will likely need to sign up or create an account. It's best to keep a standard password if you plan to do many blogs.

  • Add Comments:
    • Use the search box to locate relevant articles.
    • Find creative ways to tie the author's topic into a discussion point about Blue Planet Run and the global water crisis.
    • Try to include our URL http://blueplanetrun.org
    • Once the comment has posted, note the date and URL or take a screen grab.

  • To Post on a Wall or Start a Discussion:
    • Determine what the general hot-topics are for each site before you post a question or announce your thoughts.
    • If people join your discussion, remember you are representing Blue Planet Run. Try not to engage with irate people – just let them speak their mind. For people who are interested, you can always direct them to our staff. info@blueplanetrun.org
    • Once the posting is up, note the date and URL or take a screen grab.

  • To publish an article on a blog or website:
    • Write an article in your unique style. Include:
      • Blue Planet Run somewhere in the title and body.
      • A call to action from the reader (see the website, make a donation, watch this video) with the link to our site.
      • A photo or our logo
      • Proof the content for errors before you submit.
    • You may need to contact the owner of the blog/website in order to post. Often request textboxes are small – briefly describe the idea and offer to email them the story.
    • If they agree to post, ask when it will go up. When it has posted, note the date and the URL or take a screen grab.
    • For auto-submissions, you may need to submit TAGS. These are words your article will be associated with: Water, Running, Kids, Health, Planet, Parents, Green, Blue Planet Run, Safe Drinking Water, Charity, Women, Children, Athletics, etc. It depends on your content. It's mostly common sense.

WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MEDIA

Most newspapers' web sites have a page describing how to submit stories. Letters to the Editor are often the easiest way to get your words in print, and in local papers they are often some of the most read pages.
