Today my team started the 9am-to 3pm shift. We have been on the night shift now for three weeks due to injuries, time changes, and unfortunate luck. I don’t mind the night shift because I run well up mountains, when it is cold in the dark. So normally I run at 3am so that the other runners can still rest an extra 80 minutes. This mornings run though went well for me. It was about 78 degrees here in Hisperia, Ca and the talk of the week has been all about the heat of the desert. When I started off my leg was only supposed to be 8.5 miles due to a GPS mishap, but I realized when I looked at my watch and it read 68min that I was over that distance for sure. By mile nine Dill yelled at me 1 more mile until 10miles and your done. I thought to myself “ I knew something was a bit funny.” Fortunately the pace I was running was easier than what I had been doing the past two shifts so I wasn’t stressed at all. When I finished everyone asked me how I felt and I responded “pretty good actually for someone who doesn’t like the heat.” Now the hard part starts. If your wondering what this is it is sitting in the van because it is too hot outside.

July 13th- The Fly!

Have you ever seen the movie that came out in the 1980”s called “The Fly?” Well for those who have not all you really need to do is come out here (Siberia) for a day.

July 9th- The Blue Team!

Today’s run was straight ahead with no turns or buildings. It has been like this for the past 10 days actually. Since being in Russia I have learned to master the 90 minute 10 mile run.

July 8th- The King of Russia!

When we arrived at our hotel today we noticed it was right next to a major lake that had a beach on it. This more then made up for the past three nights that were not so accommodating.

July 3rd- Hotel Olympia!

The hotel we are staying in is a 4 star hotel called “ Hotel Olympia.” This is such a great pleasure to be here since the previous nights stay was not good.

June 28th- Red Square!

This morning I awoke at 6am because I wanted to get up and go see Red Square. I figured since I am all the way over here and who knows when I may get back that I better go and see it.

June 24th- Exchange Point!

Today we started the 3pm shift. I ran first at the major exchange point and almost everyone on the team was there filled with energy and excitement.

June 21st The Soul of Poland!

I have finally made it to Poland. I have been wanting to come here every since I meet one of my good friends named Piotr from back home who is from here.

June 19th Turn Down the Heat!

Today’s run was hot. We started the 9am to 3pm shift. I ran first at 9:32am because the other group had a big exchange point in Vienna. The heat was out and I ran an even steady pace.

June 16th-We Run for Water!

Last night was the hardest run I have had up until this point. It was pouring down and rain and the wind was blowing super hard. Victor ran the first leg and I ran the second.
