Our hotel last night in Tankhoi was a dump. Having swum in Lake Baikal earlier, and it being late, I just crawled into bed. Something got my stomach and today I had a difficult run. It was hilly and windy. Things improved after I hit the bushes but I used up my full 90 minutes. While on the road I was disgusted by today's police escort. Two officers were in the car with a prostitute and would take turns driving and cajoling with her. Meanwhile they kept pulling up alongside me. I took care not to glance in their direction. In fact I looked fully away except to say thank you when they waited for me and again when we were finished with my 10 miles. We lost the escort for some time earlier in the week but it's good to have them back for safety reasons.

We have the BPR book writer here, Mike Cerre from Globe TV, previously an ABC news correspondent. He is doing lots of video and asking us deep and thought-provoking questions about the cause and the impacts of the run on ourselves and others. He appears to be doing quite a long piece on our time at Lake Baikal given the Lake's significance and its sacred history.

We are still surrounded by mountains with the train as our constant companion. I heard it pass near the hotel several times over night and found the sound soothing and connective. The train is the door to the outside world for these people as well bringing them the products and goods they rely to survive that are not locally available.

We are on this run to establish such a connection for the people of the world who need safe drinking water by raising awareness amongst those who can help provide it.

Water is life. Pass it on!
