We will be running 3:00pm-9:00pm for next four days. Hoping to have milder hot runs and fewer bugs in this shift.
Today when Brynn finished her run in the pouring rain, it was almost 4:30pm. We waited in the van for Simon to start his run as it was pouring very hard for 15 minutes. After cops left with the runner and pilot car followed the runner, we tried to head towards our next exchange point and realized that our van was stuck in the mud with that heavy down pour and mud slide.
Max tried hard to pull the van out and ended up skidding almost in the ditch. With lean cell phone signal we were successful in the end after many attempts to communicate with pilot van for help. They came after 20 minutes and pulled us out of the mess with a strong rope. With all this fiasco, when we reached the exchange point, Simon was just 5 minutes away. We saw the beautiful rainbow as Simon finished his run in the bright sun.
We decided to clean our van that day night as the entire van was with dripping mud allover and the dead bugs stuck on the windows. We started fresh the next day in Tomsk next to huge Irtysh River. Tomsk is the largest port on this river. The abundance of surface water in Russia amazes me.
I ran my longest run so far 25K as Sean took break after stomach upset yesterday.
