Taeko joined our team for the first time and will be running with us for the 9 am to 3 pm shift and then return to her blue team. I took advantage of the opportunity to run with her and joined her for her leg of 10 miles and then ran my 10 miles. She jumped on the bike and cooled down riding beside me for a little while. The horseflys here are like Siberian tigers. Perhaps they are related. They are so huge you swear you can see their stripes! Even the 30 degree celcius heat wasn't a deterrent for the swarms. It was such a new experience that I was a little concerned at how many there were at the end of our 10 miles running together and told Taeko that I was going to run ahead just before the finish to open the van door for her. I took off and tried shouting to the pilot car people who were waiting at the exchange point that we were being chased by a swarm of hornets. My humility hit the sky when I arrived at the van to see that the van windows were open and that they were simply everywhere. At that point I also realized that they were just horseflys. Nothing could be done as I turned around and helped Taeko swipe them away with a towel. Blue Planet Run fun!
Poem of the day:
Across the vastness of my perceptions
I came by the split of my thoughts
Seeing that my judgment arrived before the decision
To take life too seriously and lose the lightness
Feeling the inclination to be tired and become distracted
Holding my breath while breathing and not being able to run while running
Then in an instant some part of me decided it wasn't separate
The sky looked down, I looked up and the world decided
I was a part of it.
I became light, focused, relaxed and connected.
September 27, 2007... and still on the run!
When I think about all the great times and places that I visited this past summer, I am also reminded of all the great people.
September 2 - Flying team colours!
With the last few days of our run looming and the month changing, emotions are swelling like I mentioned in my previous blog.
August 25 - 'Our home and Native land...'
My return to Canada sends a current of emotion flowing through my channels of hope and inspiration.
August 17 - The Wedding
In Kansas running in the 99 degree heat, I ended up getting attacked by two dogs but was able to yell at them enough to keep them at bay until our exchange point vehicle came by.
August 13 - From Camp Hale to Vail
24 Miles of altitude above 8000', mountains, fresh air, an incredible team and a run to my training grounds for the last two summers combined to make it one of the best 2007 Blue Planet Run days for m
August 10th - 'In the company of our elders and our future generations!'
On the 9th we started our running from Zion National Park in Utah at 3 am. I was up last and ran the last shift from 7:45 - 8:55.
August 8 -'Cali through Death Valley to the Red Sandstone Cliffs'
Poem of the day:
Water is sacred
Simple and powerful
An essence makes life
And is life itself.
Any form of life
Is a justification of a celebration
August 2 – BPR Fremont through San Jose ending at San Simeon
The California sun is screaming hello even though the temperatures are staying cool. I love it!
