Still in Poland. Just finished running from Kalusyn to Nowe Opole, the 3pm to 4:30
pm leg. The weather has turned on us with rains last night. Now it' cool,
gray and soupy. I was on the same busy road again as last night but traffic was
much lighter and I had a good shoulder. Stayed on the right so the semi drafts would
scoop me forward as opposed to slowing me down with their headwinds. The scenery
just outside of Warsaw was pretty bleak but soon we were into some agricultural
areas with interesting livestock. I maintained sub 8:30's and am happy to be
done early as I ran until 9pm last night.

In thinking about the hundreds, maybe thousands, of accident memorials along this
highway, I wondered if some actually mark the resting place of the victim. Some are
quite large and ornate.

As it turns out, the Green Team won't cross the Belarus border until tomorrow
morning and we and another team have to go by train. We are staying at a hotel
tonight described as a survival camp. The creature comforts may be over for awhile,
with the possible exception of Moscow.

I'm excited to have this extra day in Poland so I can enjoy some more pierogies
and the good Polish beer. We'e been drinking the regional beers as we travel,
after runs of course. I especially enjoyed the Amstel from the tap in Holland.
Prost! Na zdrowie!
