The last few days have been a bit manic, traveling from country to country.

The most restful part of the day is while we are running. The Yellow team have now moved onto the 3.00am to 9.00am shift. This has been by far the most difficult shift to adjust to, but the rewards of running at 4.00am in the morning and watching the sun rise on a cloudless sky is fantastic. I am getting around 2-3 hours of sleep a day at the moment, as it is difficult to find time for this and time to eat.

My runs so far on this shift have been fairly hilly. The countryside around parts of the Czech Republic resembled that of the drive up the A9, with self sown pines and birches growing along side the road. Yesterday the yellow team had the job of running into Vienna, with Heiko fighting with the traffic for the final hour of his run, some of the gestures he got I won't repeat, but I don't think people were very happy with him running down the road in the middle of rush hour. Then this morning we had the job of running into Krakow, this was a little better as it was 5.30 in the morning. The square there was lovely, another place on my list to revisit, we even got some people out to support (8 drunk youths joined Ruddy for the final run around the square).

Tomorrow the yellow team have the task of trying to run into Warsaw at 9.00am, Heiko has not volunteered this time. Then 24 hours off when we will be crossing over into Belarus at 5.30 in the afternoon and then start the 9.00am to 3.00pm shift and if this weather remains the same it is going to be fun (not).

Off now to try and sleep before the last night shift run.

Hello again.

I think today is day 85, but I can’t be sure about that. I have started to live on automatic pilot, doing the same old stuff day after day.

Now we have the delights of the M53. As usual this turned out to be flat and straight, well for the first wee while and then YES, hills and curves, yippee, proper running.

Life on the road

As the majority of the day is spent in our little van we witness all kinds of events. Take this evening for instance. The yellow team has taken over the 9.00pm to 3.00am shift.
