- Statement: “If I can make a difference and create that awareness then I feel I have done my bit in my lifetime.” – Melissa Moon, 2007
Had my final run in Holland today and I spent my 10miles running through Zwolle which is in the country, it was another still evening and passing these big open green fields and looking at the moon it just seemed so appropriate to listen to the Eagles on my ipod - ‘peaceful easy feeling’
just was perfect and then ‘ Hotel California’ in my final mile to finish off.
Found a bar open in this quiet little town, so armed with Blue Planet Run stickers I decided to pop in and use the toilet and grab a coke, and Luke, our driver, grabbed some coffees for the guys in the pilot car that follows us all night for safety. There is the doctor Gene from the USA, Fulvio from Italy who keeps us laughing with his antics , one of them is using a shower cap as a beret - he now has the doctor Gene wearing one! - and Kelly from Ignition who is keeping us all in order - they are doing a fantastic job. The owner of the bar knew all about the Blue Planet Run and was eager to show me 2 Dutch newspapers that had articles covering this event!
I have brought my Eagles DVD along with me and at 2am while in the van decided to put it on - it was the 2004 concert I went to in Melbourne, Australia - absolutely brilliant concert. However I can’t have it my own way and had to share the music space with Victor from Guatemala who decided it was time for some Latin music which was also great to listen to.
After our final runner finishes this morning at 3am we drive to our hotel in Germany - Our 7th Country in 11 days! I am getting a little confused at times as to what country I am in with these changes. I went to get a takeaway coffee in England and handed them US dollars thinking I was still in the states!
Our team has a day off tomorrow and we will make sure we all get our legs massaged to be ready to attack the 3am to 9am shift!
