Just passed into the Netherlands, on our way to an event at Dow in Ternauzen by the sea. Last night I ran the 9pm to 10:30 pm shift from Marseilles en Beauvais to Voilleaux, France. The mayor of Voilleaux and his wife greeted us at the Exchange Point, and donned a BPR shirt. He read about us in the local paper and a photo of him and us at the exchange will be the follow up article.
Running at night here is different. It is silent without the creature sounds of Vermont. There are no peepers. My leg was a long and lovely well paved country road through farmland with lots of hills, mostly up. Ran through a few quiet villages. The motorists whizzed by close and fast. Our technical people have their act together. Tonight there were some mechanical difficulties but they got it under control, always keeping us safe and secure. There is always a pilot vehicle nearby when we run. During daylight hours, a Vespa keeps ahead. Tonight our "Scooter"was Chris and he would provide me with water at the top of each long hill. It was humid and warmer than the night before. The mayor and his wife, and lots of cows, were my only greeters. Still, I love the night and the occasional peaks into community family life.
Weather has been dreary, no sun, soupy skies and occasional rain. We are looking forward to a well attended event at Ternauzen where there is also a 5K fun run, then off to Antwerp for the night!

Life goes on.....sort of. I’m a different person. I’m struggling with the issue of how to make a living and still keep active in the cause. Water issues surround me.
