The 1st day was so….interesting as everybody was so excited and anxious just to see how the 95 days run kicks off; however at the end of the day the starting ceremony everybody had been filled with joy, happiness, jovialities and each an everyone at least had a word to tell about the day. Most of the runners were interviewed by the media persons before and after the kick off ceremony. Personally I was interviewed by the UN media and asked me to respond in Kiswahili language among many other media persons who kept following me interested especially in how I came into conduct with the Blue Planet Foundation and how I was selected alone from Africa and of course that wasn’t a big deal to me as the criteria that was used to select was best known to the authorities and not me.
Well the run was kicked off my the famous actress Hilary Swank and the first runner was Mary Chervenak from my team Grey as she was one of the Dow chemical staff which was the blue planet run 2007 main sponsor just after the runners taking a number of photos with Hilary Swank as the photographers were hundreds and every photographer called “ Hilary!! Hilary!!! Hilary!!!!........” Just like in announcement event in London on 18th May 07 where every photographer was calling Kelly!! Kelly!!! Kelly!!!!.......... a thousand and one times.
After the run kicked off, every runners team took their respective vans ready to their exchange points and hotels with different hotel bookings depending the closeness of your exchange point since the run was 24/7 non-stop relay.
Our run started the second day of the run at I.e on 2nd June 07 in Euston at 3:00am and finished at 9:00am after the four of us Shiri Leventhal, David Christof, Mary Chevernak and I fishing our runs as everybody had been scheduled to run the 10 miles in 1:30:00 but I did mine in less than 1hr which was required although I used to treat my runs as part of my training as I am greatly aiming at New York city marathon by November 2007 but which I will be dedicating for safe drinking water in the Globe as per our running commitment which is our only obstacle.
On 3rd we slept in Massachusetts and then too the run to Boston where we took flights to Ireland.
4Th June 07 – Arrived early in the morning at the airport in Ireland. Everybody was so exited to be in Ireland and for sure everybody had a story of his or her own to tell about Ireland. Personally I was not exited to be in Ireland BUT I was exited to see Dublin and by that day BPR brought my dreams into a come true as the other runners could really tell how beautiful Ireland was and how green it was. Besides how the roads where was unbelievable; too smart!!!.
On 5th was the main day I have been longing in life as we were running in through the city of DUBLIN City and later finishing the run at St. Peters Square in the heart of Dublin city. From there we all went to take a ferry to UK and inside the ferry was quite interesting.
BETWEEN DAY 10 AND DAY 14
Just to let you know that all as been great and fantastic since running in the heart of France i.e at Paris.
7th June 07 - Achieving My Goals
After that we took our run through London which after the exchange point on 7th June 7, 2007 after handing over to team blue then we ferried to France at 6pm.
