My team ran from Greenwich, Conn. to Stratford, mostly on the Old Boston Post Road, Route 1.

Already, there are many human connections. Simon engaged a young boy at a McDonald’s and next thing you know he was our Blue Planet spokeskid of the day. In Darien, Connecticut, Nicholas Troilo came out to hand us brochures about “Turning Water into Wine”. Turns out he has been donating a percentage of his wine shop proceeds, over $15,000 so far, to provide safe, clean and fresh water to the people in the Makungwa area of Zambia.

On the Main Street of Bridgeport during a torrential downpour, I interrupted a Steven Segal movie shoot. I thought the tents were ours and raised my arms and hooted and hollered, wondering why I got little reaction.

My ultrarunner friend Paul Davis showed up in Norwalk. He’d been trying to catch up with us all day. My college friend Catherine Gouvin showed up in New London. I love the familiar faces along the way, each one of whom is spreading the word about our cause.
My experiences during my run were diverse and exciting, from posh stately homes to ghetto, from humid sun to downpour and lightning. One bolt literally made me jump several feet. As I ran through the storm, it became apparent to me that the rain, which is water, is the purifier. The sidewalks went from littered to sparkling. I splashed through deep puddles like a kid. Dill (the Run’s Executive Producer) informed a group of kids at a school in Bridgeport that the “crazy old lady from Vermont” running by them was running around the world. They came out in a great welcoming mass shouting my name, Go Dot! It was awesome.

Jason, Simon, Laura and I ran well. We were on duty from 3pm to 9pm, just spent the night in New London, Conn., and will start again when we meet the team in Norwich at 3pm. On to Boston…

Life goes on.....sort of. I’m a different person. I’m struggling with the issue of how to make a living and still keep active in the cause. Water issues surround me.
