8 hours transit in LA after flying in from New Zealand gave me time to
catch up on my thoughts and test out this new laptop of mine with my first blog.

Fortunately I was able to relax in the Air New Zealand lounge, away from all the hustle and bustle of LA airport. New Zealand is a small place and I couldn’t believe the amount of familiar looking faces I saw in the lounge. Had a lovely conversation with this man and his 11 year old son from Nelson in NZ. He had just been on an amazing adventure following route 66 for 4 weeks by car experiencing real America. He asked if I was off to compete in a Mountain running event overseas, I told him I was about to take myself way outside of my comfort zone and do something I had never done before, to run for 95 days raising awareness for the lack of safe drinking water. He must have been impressed because he left me his business card to forward on all the details about the Blue Planet run. Then he boarded his plane for New Zealand and I continued on my journey to our training camp in Lake Placid in up state New York, this was pretty special as it was the village for the 1980 winter Olympics.
