India, West Bengal - Provision of Arsenic Free Drinking Water in 12 Schools

People Impacted:
12,000 school children

An approach to provide arsenic free water in rural West Bengal is rainwater harvesting. 12 schools of Murshidabad and Nadia districts will be provided with a rainwater harvesting structure so the communities can get arsenic free water for the first time. Community members will form into committees, collect community contributions and be responsible for construction and maintenance. A roof will also be built on top of the tank to create a stage for use by the school.
