These final days are flying by! We've been around the globe and more. Had we gone direct we would have been home several weeks now, but we went south to France, north through the Nederlands, around the countries of Germany, Austria and Czech Republic, north to Russia, across then down to Mongolia and the Orient. When we hit the U.S. we did even more ups and downs including south to Los Angeles, north to Canada, and down to DC before heading home to NYC. We easily could have gone around the world in 80 days, or less. And not in a balloon but in our BPR bubble. Our bubble has protected us. We are all here and in light of all the miles and all the obstacles, we are safe and, amazingly, on time!!!
We stayed in Danville, Pennsylvania last night and ran the Susquehanna River Valley today with lots of hills, sunshine and views!!!!! My dear friend Jane Kellogg from New Hampshire was a guest runner for my shift. We had barely started to run when a large blue heron rose from a stream by the roadside right in front of our eyes. Had we known she was there, we could have touched her before she flew higher and crossed the roadway into the forest. My cousin was waiting at an exchange but we missed him because of logistical issues. Luckily he was very understanding. It's tough on this run to make connections. We are evolving constantly, one step at a time, one day at a time, and now it's Day 91, just four days to the finish line!!!!
Among other points of interest, we crossed over the Appalachian Trail today. Jin Zidell, BPR founder, accompanied us for the day. He is the penultimate philanthropist, full of ideas, and the best spokesperson the BPR could have. The other person we got to visit with all day was our Nederlands runner Rudy who was riding a bike with all the day runners. Rudy has been recovering from a hip injury. He will run to the finish. He has been keeping fit by riding when he can't run.
All in all a great day, with lots of activity including quite a bit of media attention, and wonderful weather in the 80's and sunny. We are sleeping in Rockville, Maryland and will run through Washington D.C. tomorrow.
Water is life. Pass it on!
October 25, 2007
Life goes on.....sort of. I’m a different person. I’m struggling with the issue of how to make a living and still keep active in the cause. Water issues surround me.
