The Network represents a new way of making effective investments in safe drinking water projects. Our approach fosters:

  • Picking projects that match your goals, not just the projects that come across your desk;
  • Investing in the water sector proactively vs. reactively;
  • Having the resources to do sufficient due diligence on potential NGO partners and proposed projects;
  • Ability to evaluate the customized nature of most proposals, particularly in rural communities, given the many aspects of a successful project that are cultural or community-specific in nature;
  • Keeping updated on the progress of a funded project and getting a deeper understanding of how project impletmenters work;
  • Getting detailed feedback on an implemented project in a timely manner to understand the impact of your philanthropic investment.

The Network was designed to help you overcome typical funding challenges.

  • You share your project criteria and funding budgets with Blue Planet Network. We can include these in our regular funding rounds, or we can hold a special funding round for you. You will receive projects for consideration based on your criteria that have been vetted and approved via a rigorous peer review process.  This "seal of approval" can make you confident that your investment will be well made and that your strategic objectives will be met.
  • Our peer review process takes care of the need for additional funder due diligence resources. While you are welcome to be as involved as you want to be, you can count on the expert resources of the Network to deliver strong, vetted projects.  This can help you hold resources flat while your water investments increase.
  • Our members work in 24 countries and, between them, have experience with almost every condition or project situation.  The members who review projects are selected based on the relevance of their experience to the projects. This raises the value of their peer review to you.
  • The Network has an easy, online way for implementers to give project progress reports.  You will be kept updated on any issues, opportunities or changes as they occur. By keeping these status reports simple and unified in format, they don't take resources away from project implementation. Instead, they offer the NGO a new way to build a stronger relationship with you.
  • All project data and learning must be reported and shared so that all parties can improve and future errors be avoided. The Network was designed to enable detailed quantitative and qualitative information to be shared transparently. You see the real impact of your investments and gain the confidence to do more.  NGO’s are accountable, but not overburdened. They also make a meaningful contribution to the entire water sector with the learning from their work.

Blue Planet Network is looking for funding partners who are eager to understand the impact of their investment and seek collaboration, innovation, and transparency in the funding process.  You can leave the end-to-end management of your projects to the Network, or be deeply involved in all aspects of them.

Our goal is to provide a level of service, results, and accountability that leads to increased trust in, and funding through, the Network.
