Rudy's Tour de Water Europe 2011 - Grand Circle USA By Bicycle
Blue Planet Run 2007 global messenger Rudy Van Prooyen is on the road again for water. This is his third cycling event. In 2009, his cross-USA ride tested my limits with something he had no experience with. In 2010 he circumnavigated Europe, riding 4,200 miles, twice the distance of the Tour de France, in foreign territory, through thirteen different countries with various languages, cultures and customs. This summer he will be circling the United States. He will be a messenger, bike mechanic, athlete, operations manager, adventurists and tourist all in one. In the end, he hopes to meet my fundraising goal of another $10,000 for water projects around the world.

About Rudy Van Prooyen
Born in the Netherlands, Rudy now lives in West Bloomfield, Michigan and enjoys trail biking, road biking and running. For the last three years he has been a social entrepreneur and global messenger for the Blue Planet Foundation running the 2007 Blue Planet Run, an epic global relay, covering 15,200 miles, through sixteen countries over a period of ninety-five days. After a successful long-term career, he retired from the corporate world and last summer organized a 2,400-mile self-supported solo bike adventure through rural America and raised $11,000 to benefit the BPR Foundation. He hopes that this year’s ride will again engage the more fortunate in helping the less fortunate.
